Beginning January 10, the Nuveen Community Center for the Arts will provide an opportunity for up and coming area artists to display their work in a professional setting.  “Emerging…Artists of White Lake” will be on display from January 10-31, and will feature area artists working in a variety of media including acrylic paint, watercolor, photography, and fiber arts.  This show will not only promote the creative spirits of area artists, but will provide an opportunity for the public to purchase favorably priced original art to add to their collections.

Featured artist will include Photographers Sarah Justian,
Dan McCormick, and Sally Whitbeck; Painters Tara Kelly, Terry Thompson, and Barb Todd; Ginger Yeomans working in pastels and paint, and Beth Pierson with fiber arts, including felting and quilting.  Additional artists and mediums will be represented.

Nuveen
will host an opening reception for the exhibition on January 10 from 6-8 p.m.  Light refreshments will be served.  The show is open to the public Tuesday-Saturday, January 11-31.  Viewing hours are Tuesday – Friday, 12 p.m. – 6 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

ACWL – The Driving Force Behind White Lake’s Art Scene

Aspects of the Arts Council of White Lake are visible throughout the White Lake area. Anyone driving or walking through Whitehall and Montague will see art featured by local artists, more than likely put there by the council. The primary feature is the Art Walk, a collection of sculptures found along the bicycle trail that is expected to grow to 25 sculptures by 2010.
